Have you ever noticed how much water is being wasted in your household?
You should do something about that. Humans use water quicker than the Earth can replenish. To provide enough clean water for people to drink, it is cleaned at drinking water treatment plants or by a septic system. 70% of earth is water. 97.5% of Earth’s water is not in drinkable condition. 2.5% of water is drinkable, but about one third of it is in frozen form. The water left to drink in only roughly 1% of the total water on Earth. Water is cleaned after it is used and that repeats over and over. Conserving water puts ease on wastewater treatment plants because the less water you put down the drain, the less work the plants have to do. Saving water also saves energy because your water is heated and people take long, hot showers. A very money consuming way of getting drinkable water is collecting rainfall in large dams. Many economically challenged communities go without clean drinking water because they can’t afford water filtering technology. Those communities have to conserve water as much as possible because they have very limited supply. Global warming has affected rainfall patterns which has caused water scarcity in certain areas of the world. A lot of water is wasted by how much water is flowing out of the faucet. When you are brushing your teeth so much water is getting wasted if you leave the water run. The pressure of the water. Also, when people shave, they may leave the water running so they can rinse the shaving cream off the razor and their face all through the time they are shaving. Toilets consume a lot of water when they are flushed. People flush their toilets many times a day. Some people even use them as trash cans. They flush small things down the toilet. Leaks waste a lot of water constantly because even if your faucet is off, the pipes still leaks. A single leak can waste several thousand liters of water per year. Showers use a lot of water because of the time people are in there and because of people letting the water run so the water will heat up. The pressure of the water makes more water come out of the shower nozzle. The bathroom probably has the highest water consumption out of the entire household. About 29% of water used is by the toilet, and about 20% is used by the bath and shower daily. So almost 50% of water is used just in one room. Also, washing your car consumes a lot of water. Hoses use roughly 10 gallons of water per minute. So you end up using up to 140 gallons of water. A lot of water is used when people let the water run when they are washing dishes. Washing machines consume a lot of water because of how long they are on. Laundry consumes about 13% of water daily. Lawns are gardens consume a lot of water because people let their sprinklers run all day and people over water their plants because they are worried. 35% of the daily water usage is consumed by lawns and gardens. So, all those apparatuses are using so much water daily, but drinking and cooking only uses about 2% of water daily. To cut down on the water usage, instal a low water flow showerhead or aerator filter for a sink faucet. Low flow showerheads reduce the flow by at least 25%. Aerator filters create the same amount of water pressure, but with less water. The aerator filter displaces water with air. Turn the water off while brushing your teeth and do not let the water run constantly when you are shaving. Fill up the sink with warm water then turn the water off so you can rinse your razor. Save the water in a container that runs when the water is warming up. You can use that water to water your plants. Fill a milk jug with rocks and put it in your toilet tank to displace water. Use a low flush toilet and do not use your toilet as a trash can by flushing down small things throughout the day. Low flush toilets reduce water usage by 40% to 50%. Fix any pipe or appliance that is leaking as soon as possible and make sure to turn off taps tightly so there is not any drippage. Do not wash your car with a hose, take your car to a public car wash because public car washes only use roughly 35 gallons of water per car wash. When hand washing dishes, do not run the water constantly. Use the dishwasher on a short cycle and only on full loads. Wash only full loads in the washing machine and use short cycles and the suds-saver if your washer has that feature. Do not overwater your plants or run your sprinkler system all day. Set a short timer on your sprinkler system because lawns and gardens only require about 5 millimeters of water per day in warm weather, and even less is needed during cooler weather. Now you know many ways you may be wasting water and solutions for conserving water. Go out and make the world a better place.

Thanks, I have always been a water conscious, water saving human. Full dishwasher, full wash loads....might be a little guilty of longer showers though.
